West Bay Beach
Resort has been in business for 32 years and we have many regulars
who return each summer. We pride ourselves on maintaining a family
atmosphere and ensure the most comfort for our guests. We have rules
that ensure quiet nights and peaceful camping for all.
During
the summer months of July and August, we only make reservations
by the week, arriving on Saturday and leaving on Saturday.
That way we do not have people moving in and out every day. The
campground is quieter and the children know their friends will also
be staying for the entire week. During the spring and fall months,
reservations can be made for less than a week. If you have booked
for only one week, we collect payment for the week upon your arrival
and take the deposit off. If you have booked for more than one week,
you may pay for one week in full, however you will not get credit
for your deposit until you pay for your final week. In other words,
if you leave early on your reservation, you will forfeit the deposit.
There are NO REFUNDS ON DEPOSITS
We are very
heavily booked for the summer, so reservations should be made as
early as possible. Once the summer starts we are always fully booked
for the middle 7 weeks of the summer.
We have many
returning customers who book from year to year. These people book
before they leave for the following summer, and then they confirm
their reservations in January. February 15th, 2011 is when we start
taking new reservations. With many campgrounds closing in the area
we are getting very busy and many weeks we will not have any sites
available. We stop taking reservations for the summer in
mid June. After that the sites that are not reserved are
available on a first come first serve basis.
We have 6 rental
trailers that will be set up on site, ready for your arrival. They
all have front bedrooms and rear bunks with a couch and booth style
table. Two of the trailers have slide outs. The price for the rental
depends on the trailer you rent. The price does NOT include the
cost of the site. The trailers come equipped with silverware, dishes,
microwave oven, pots and pans and air conditioning. They do not
have electrical appliances such as toaster, coffee maker, etc. We
do not allow smoking or pets in the trailers.
During July
and up to the 27th of August
we are not accepting any new dogs.We
have always allowed dogs, but seem to have too many problems with
barking and people not picking up after their pets. VISITORS
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BRING DOGS. Sorry.
We have boat
moorage and a boat launch, however most of the slips are booked
from one year to the next, so they are difficult to get. We do not
accept boats over 20 feet in length.
We like to make
reservations by telephone, as that way we can get all of the information
from you that we need in order to know if we have a site that will
suit your needs. Reservations made by phone get answered immediately
or soon thereafter, so if you try to arrange something by email
you could miss out on getting a site. Please call 250-768-3004 for
reservations.
We have 22 acres
of flat land, therefore there is a safe area for riding bikes. There
are wineries within two miles which offer world famous wines as
well as restaurants that offer views that equal anything you would
find worldwide.
We often get
asked if the campsites are private. I wish I could say we offer
what the provincial campgrounds have, but unfortunately I cannot.
We do have many large shade trees, but it is the trunks of these
trees that are between the sites and not shrubs. Our sites are large
enough that you will not have any problem with putting out your
awning. We are a family campground, catering to families with children,
and we find that it does not take long for families to get to know
one another and then the issue of privacy is forgotten.
Our entire campground
is grass and we work hard throughout the summer to maintain it.
Many of our campers help water the grass through the season so that
the campers coming in August get to enjoy the green grass. We do
have a policy of moving tents every 3-4 days to stop from killing
the grass.
We have one
of the largest private beaches on Okanagan Lake. The beach itself
is all sand and in the water there are a few stones and a fine silt.
The slope in the water is extremely gradual with NO drop-off, which
makes it a very safe swimming area.
We require a $150.00 deposit
which is non-refundable if you have to cancel.
We DO NOT accept credit
or debit cards.
On Saturday,
our check-in time for reservations is 2 pm. This 2 pm check-in time
is strictly adhered to. Each Saturday we mow, rake and water our
sites and we need the time to do this.
Check-out time is 11 am.
Thank you and we welcome any
inquiries about our campground.
